Biography

Maria Antonia Jaime was born in Corrientes, a city in the North-East of Argentina where she studied at the Commercial School, the Institute of Fine Arts, the Institute of Music and the University of North-East. She finished her studies as veterinarian in 1988, having worked at her own clinic and at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine as a biochemistry professor she continued in this profession until she emigrated to Canada with her family in 1993. She then studied at the Cégep Saint-Laurent and McGill University.

After becoming involved as a volunteer in different community and multicultural organizations, she began to feel the need to express herself through art. Therefore, she began to study once again, drawing and painting at Julie Gascon’s Atelier.

This same feeling pushed her to learn ballet at the Dorval School of Ballet and South-American quilting at Art-Depôt. After being enrolled at the Lakeshore Camera Club she took some courses on photography at Steward Hall, L. Loseau, Saydie Bronsfman Institute of Art and Dawson College.

She worked, for more than 10 years at Growing Family First Photo, Our 365, Sears Photo Studio, Photoart and also as freelance photographer.

As a former flight attendant and airport agent, she's an enthusiastic traveller and has a few blogs, facebook pages and collaborates with Tripadvisor helping those seeking advice while planning a trip.

She has had several solo exhibits, The Beaconsfield’ library, Kirkland’ Sport and Cultural Center , Kirkland’ library, Café Porté Disparu and Pierrefonds Cultural Center are among them.

She has participated in a number of group ones in the Montreal area (Steward Hall, Pointe-Claire, Beaconsfield, Kirkland, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Pierrefonds, Ville St-Laurent, Cote-des-Neiges and Downtown Montreal).

Her work "Sunday afternoon" became part of the permanent collection of the Pointe-Claire City.

Her works were published in feminine magazines and  she's one of the authors of the International Anthology "Mujer Mbareté Iteva" (Very courageous woman) published in Argentina in 2018.
